Ebinger's Bakery, first opened in Flatbush, Brooklyn in 1898, was famous for its Blackout Cake. Developed in the 1940s, the Blackout Cake was a chocolate layer cake generously filled andfrosted with dark fudge and chocolate cake crumbs. In celebration we bring you our take on the Flatbush Blackout Cake; chocolate ice cream with chewy chocolate brownie pieces andswirled with a rich chocolate custard.
